WHAT IS PSYCH-K ?
Life reflects your beliefs. Beliefs are usually subconscious and acquired during a lifetime of “programming.” That's why any negative programming from the past can make us think and act in ways that are self-defeating. PSYCH-K® is a quick and easy way to upgrade those programs through changing sabotaging beliefs into supportive ones.
Rewriting limiting subconscious beliefs is like upgrading the software on a personal computer. Using PSYCH-K® as a high speed interface with your own brain, you can increase the energy and synchronization of the hemispheres in the brain. This “whole-brained” state creates an ideal condition for changing beliefs held in the subconscious. Additionally, when your brain's hemispheres are synchronized in their communication, you maximize your full response potential to life’s challenges.
“When the brain’s hemispheres are phase locked and work as one, a number of known benefits result, including heightened awareness, improved recall, more self programming flexibility, and heightened creativity – in short, ‘super learning”.
-Christopher M. Bache
Q: What Is PSYCH-K®?
PSYCH-K® is a unique and direct way to identify and change subconscious beliefs that perpetuate old habits and behaviors that you would like to change. It is a simple process that helps you communicate with your subconscious mind so you can change beliefs that sabotage your self-esteem, relationships, job performance and even your physical health! PSYCH-K® is a user-friendly way to rewrite the software of your mind in order to change the printout of your life!
Q: Where Did It Come From?
PSYCH-K® originated in 1988 through Robert M. Williams, M.A. He was frustrated that typical counseling techniques, which depend primarily on “insight” and “motivation,” rarely produce changes that are real and long-lasting. He then spent nearly three decades on PSYCH-K®'s development. With a business and psychotherapy background, Rob created a modality for personal change based on results, that drew from a variety of modern and ancient processes. It deals with the part of the mind called the subconscious, which is capable of creating dramatic and lasting changes quickly and easily.
Q: How Does It Work?
PSYCH-K® evolved through hundreds of sessions with individuals and groups over years of research. It reduces the subconscious' resistance to change by creating a receptive state of mind. This allows access that is similar to a personal computer. PSYCH-K® serves like a direct and verifiable “mental keyboard” for communicating with the subconscious mind.
Q: How Does It Differ From Other Self-Help Modalities?
PSYCH-K® is different in a number of ways. While all modalities have value, it is these differences that make a huge impact.
If we take a look at some of those differences, we see that first, PSYCH-K® is a "do-with" partnership process, not something we "do-on" someone. Second, we use protocols to identify whether a 'problem to be fixed' may actually be an opportunity/solution to meet a greater need in your life, as well as being a bearer of a very important message. Third, PSYCH-K® acknowledges the connection of your Higher Self (Superconscious mind) to a Higher Power (God, Divine Intelligence, Universal Mind, Spirit, etc. whatever you choose to call "It") to guide the process that creates the change patterns. Fourth, rather than using only one technique, PSYCH-K® provides a variety of tools from which the subconscious mind can choose. Fifth, PSYCH-K® is based on simplicity, rather than unnecessary complexity in its processes. Finally, while other processes depend heavily on the facilitator's skill, the quality of a PSYCH-K® experience is a result of the wisdom residing in the person's Superconscious, plus the inner wisdom and ability within the person experiencing the process. Most people don't even know they have this power within them.
Q: What is a PSYCH-K® Balance?
It is a technique designed to create communication that is balanced across both hemispheres of the brain. This whole-brain state opens up access to reprogram the subconscious' goal-sabotaging beliefs into supportive beliefs to achieve those goals!
Q: Why Haven’t I Heard Of It Before?
Prior to 1997, Rob Williams was the only one teaching it. Now the number of certified instructors personally trained by him is growing. In short, you may not have heard of it before, but will hear a lot about PSYCH-K® in the future!
Q: How Can It Help Me?
The subconscious holds beliefs that can limit what you achieve. If you feel like a car being driven with one foot on the gas pedal and the other on the brakes, you probably are facing a struggle between your conscious goals and your subconscious beliefs. This struggle affects your relationships, your career, self-esteem, exercise, weight loss, finances, even your health.
PSYCH-K® allows direct communication with your subconscious and Superconscious minds. It's spiritual foundation ensures any changes made are in your highest and best interest! When a change you are considering is confirmed to be both safe and appropriate, you change those beliefs from self-limiting into self-supporting ones in the subconscious mind. It is the use of permission protocols in PSYCH-K® that confirms the participation of your subconscious mind.
Q: What is Muscle Testing And How Does PSYCH-K® Use It?
Kinesiology studies movement, with aparticular focuses on the mind and body's relationship to each other. Through it, one can identify how external stimuli, such as chemicals, food allergies and our thoughts effect our physical system. This identification is achieved using muscle testing. Unlike other methods, PSYCH-K®'s use of muscle testing allows the person’s body to indicate when there has been a shift. Thus, a session's power and decision is not with the facilitator, but with the client.
Muscle testing was discovered in 1964 by George Goodheart, DC and was mostly used by Chiropractors. Now it is used as a tool to effectively communicate with the subconscious to identify limiting beliefs. The subconscious controls the autonomic nervous system as well as our automatic physical and neurological functions. Therefore, as a stimulus (such as a though), reaches the brain, an electrical circuit is triggered and sent to the body's muscles and organs.
If it is a stressful thought, or a statement with which the subconscious disagrees, the brain receives a confused message that creates a conflict in the electrical system. This then results in a weakened signal from the brain that passes through the nervous system to the muscles which then causes a weakened response in the muscle when tested.
